"pomegranate tree"

"Pomegranate tree" is a symbol for a bond that Amir and Hassan share. The pomegranate tree act as their secret place where they are able to feel the friendship they have. And it is only at quiet and peaceful areas like the pomegranate tree that Amir is able to feel comfortable with a Hazara like Hassan. Although the cultural value of friendship is present throughout this passage, it cannot be denied that discrimination of ethnicity is also evident. However, because the tree is away from the rest of society and the general cultural value of ethnic discrimination, Amir can treat Hassan like a normal human being. It is also with this analysis that the pomegranate tree can be seen as a symbol for Amir and Hassan's equal treatment towards one another. Because Amir doesn't have the infuence and pressure from the rest of Afghanistan, the quiet pomegranate tree is able to reveal the connection Amir and Hassan has deep inside.
